Ray Wylie Hubbard

When it comes to down ’n’ dirty roots ’n’ roll, nobody in the wide world of Americana music today does it better. From his humble beginnings as an Oklahoma folkie in the ’60s to his wild ride through the ’70s prog country movement, and onward through the fog of the ’80s to his sobriety-empowered comeback as a songwriter’s songwriter in the ’90s, he was already a bona fide legend by the time he found his groove.

When they found each other jamming at open mics and music festivals around Michigan they couldn’t have predicted what would lie ahead of them. They’ve been featured in the lineup of prestigious affairs all across Europe, and many of the best acoustic festivals in the US.

Matt Poss Band is what you get if you throw Shooter Jennings, Blackberry Smoke, Zac Brown and Eric Church into a blender. Country Rock Americana Slamgrass.  Fan favorites, MPB have managed to participate in MCF every year since it’s inception.  Apparently the music business is not exempt from blatant nepotism.  ;)

Chain Station is a 4-piece, high-energy string band from Denver, Colorado. Their music is well-steeped in Americana roots, with vocals that are high, lonesome, and tight. Chain Station are popular veterans of multiple MCF's.

Another multiple MCF veteran who has made many friends in Effingham over the years.  He calls himself a honky tonkin’ roots rocker, an old-school troubadour with contemporary savvy carrying the torch of Woody and Ramblin’ Jack.  That’s enough, Greg.  You had us at ‘savvy’.

Do you collect the Official MCF Concert T-shirts each year?  If so, you're in for a real treat in 2017.

Mr. Quillon Hall from Harrisonburg, Virginia created this visual stunner just for MCF this year, and we absolutely love it!

Your collection needs to grow.  Nurture it.  Feed it.  Show it that you care.  Do not neglect it.

Americana, Folk, Blues, Country, Celtic, Charlie Roth is a unique blend of all these genres. What Charlie is best at is telling a story with his rich baritone vocal, acoustic guitar, rack harmonica, and foot percussion.

“Story telling of the highest order, Charlie Roth is a name to remember”

You would require the considerable powers of the Hubble space telescope to locate Steve Poltz from any region of normalcy.

Up and coming local sensation Taylor Steele will grace the MCF stage this year, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!  Taylor can sing.  Boy can she sing.  She also writes her own originals, as well as delivering some heavy hitting covers.

Moccasin Creek Festival is an annual 3-day music festival, which typically celebrates other arts and crafts as well.  It takes place at beautiful Lake Sara in Summit Township, just west of Effingham, Illinois.  The lake was created in the 1950's from five creeks that run through the basin.  One of those creeks was named Moccasin Creek by a surveyor named Tipsword in the 1850's, because of moccasin tracks he found on the banks.

The founder of Moccasin Creek Festival is Bill (Poss) Passalacqua, an Effingham native who has built his life around writing, performing and promoting music.  The Passalacqua family has a rich musical history, and Bill has three brothers, all of whom are musicians.  Each of them have followed in father Larry's musical footsteps.  Folk, bluegrass, alternative country, roots rock, and blues - "Americana" music.  This is what MCF is all about - in an outdoor setting, using a venue with great acoustics, at a beautiful time of year.

Food and beverages sold on site.  Kids activities.  Camping is next door to the festival venue, as well as cabins for rent.  There is a beach and golf course within walking distance.  Boats, canoes and kayaks for rent.  Effingham is only 5 miles away, and has thousands of hotel rooms available, as well as a plethora of restaurants catering to almost any taste.

Comb through the website, and check out MCF on Facebook and Twitter.  Most answers to your questions can be found here, if not, feel free to contact us.  We're looking forward to the event, and we hope you are too!

Pure.  Simple.  Americana.
